1. Ship or bring your scrap

For safe shipping, we can arrange for you to send your material to us via secured and insured delivery using either Brinks, GFG, or Parcel Pro. Please call us and we will make all the arrangements to have your parcel shipped to us securely and in the least expensive method. Alternatively, you can come to our premises at 215 Victoria St., Suite 400, in a high-security location in the heart of downtown Toronto. We can arrange to receive your shipment securely from the main level.

2. Melting and testing

Express Gold Refining ensures precise metal recovery with six induction and gas furnaces for all lot sizes. You can witness the entire melt process and take samples for assay.

Dust and sweeps are processed on-site with an eco-certified burn-off oven. You're welcome to observe loading, crushing, and sampling.

We also melt Dental and Platinum Group Metals into uniform bars, occasionally adding copper for accurate sampling.

3. Get paid money or bullion

After we melt it, we assay it, and if we agree on the price, we can buy it from you. The price depends on two things: The metal price of the day and the Assay results.

Although we prefer to complete the entire transaction for you, we can melt your material and charge you for it separately. If you come back to refine the melted bar with us, we will refund you a portion of that fee.

At Express Gold Refining we promised to keep policies simple, transparent and straightforward. All material require assay and will be charged at $25 (plus HST) for every separate lot. There are NO MINIMUM LOTS and NO MINIMUM CHARGES The following materials can be settled for you immediately while you wait except for sweeps and solutions.

Karat Gold - Return 99% - 97%

Charges can be customized to your need based on the quantity of each lot and total yearly volume of material.  Pricing also differs from dealers or private.

Diamond and Stone Recovery

Without destruction, we will recover your stones and diamonds from gold, silver and platinum jewellery.  We also offer a sorting service for your stones.  Finally, we can purchase your diamonds.  Please visit our diamonds section for details

This type of material requires burning which is done on site.  There is a minimum 72-hour turnaround.  Incoming weight will be charged at $10/Kg  + HST.  We assay for gold, silver, platinum and palladium ($25/element).

Assay Analysis

XRF Technology

A non-destructive assay method that gives accurate results within 90 seconds. We have three of the latest high-tech German machine that can be used interchangeably to confirm your results. We regularly calibrate the XRF’s against the strictest industry samples and are independently certified by the dealer on an annual basis.

Wet Chemical Analysis

Depending on the complexity of the matrix of your melt, we can chemically digest your sample and test it with three different machines. We have the latest state of the art assay lab with two Atomic Absorption Spectrometer (AA) machines and a Microwave Plasma – Atomic Emission Spectrometer (MP – AES).

Fire Assay

If you would like to send out the sample for fire assay, we will send it to two trusted sources in Ontario. In the near future, we are in the process of building our fire assay lab in-house.

Asahi Assay

If you prefer to send your material as a separate lot to Asahi, we will send it on your behalf, and we will settle based on their assay that we will disclose to you.
